U.S. EPA INVITES CABLE STATIONS TO AIR SHOW ON BUYING RECYCLED

Forum tells the Real Story about Cost, Availability, and Quality
SAN FRANCISCO -- On November 9 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will present a national satellite forum called "Buying Recycled: The Real Story About Cost, Availability, and Quality." This free, interactive program will provide organizations with insights on purchasing quality, competitively priced recycled products. Cable television stations are invited to air the live program.
The forum will feature Richard Keller with Maryland Environmental Service, a national trainer on buying recycled products. Keller has conducted over 125 Buying Recycled seminars. Viewers will have the opportunity to call in with questions.
Also featured will be:
Bob Langert, Director of Public and Community Affairs, McDonalds Corporation McDonald's is one of the largest purchasers of recycled goods in the country. McDonalds has integrated environmental criteria in the purchasing process, resulting in a broad range of benefits.
Eric Nelson, Environmental Purchasing Coordinator, King Co, WA King County is a leader at buying recycled products. The county annually saves more than $500,000 by purchasing more than $2,500,000 in recycled-content and environmentally preferable products.
Susan McCloskey, President, Office Plan As president of a small remanufacturer of office furniture, Susan worked with her employees and vendors to explore opportunities for buying products with recycled content.
This satellite program will provide viewers with tips on reviewing product specifications and testing procedures, identifying cost-competitive quality products with recycled content, setting up cooperative purchasing, and exploring the feasibility of closed-loop systems.
