EPA Offers Two $1,000 Scholarships to Philadelphia African American Students

PHILADELPHIA - - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today that Region III’s Black Employment Program Advisory Council is offering two $1,000 scholarships to an African American male and female high school senior who has been accepted to a four-year, historically black, college or university and plans to study science, engineering or mathematics.

Students interested in applying must have a B+ average and reside in Philadelphia and attend a Philadelphia high school. To apply, students need to submit a high school transcript, a college acceptance letter, and an essay of approximately 350 words on why they have chosen to study science, engineering, or math. All applicants must be available for an interview, if contacted.

The funds have been raised by EPA employees, who are members of the Black Employment Program, through fundraising activities and private donations.
