I applaud Congress for passage of the Beaches Environmental Assessment and Coastal Health Act of 2000. This measure has been strongly supported by the Clinton-Gore Administration to ensure safer, cleaner waters for the millions of Americans who enjoy our nation's coastal areas. This bill will greatly expand the public’s right-to-know about threats from pollution to our beaches and to our health. It is in keeping with the Clinton-Gore Administration’s longstanding efforts to make all of America’s waters fishable and swimmable once again.
