During an afternoon ceremony in the Texas Capitol, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) presented 21 Regional Administrator's Environmental Excellence Awards to 36 recipients.

"Presenting these awards is one of the best perks of my job. Many people and organizations are doing wonderful work to protect our environment and the public health. It's nice to be able to recognize a few of them," Regional Administrator Gregg Cooke said.

Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) Executive Director Jeff Saitas also participated in the ceremony. He said, "These winners are all fine examples of the innovative work being done throughout Texas and another reason why Texas remains a leader among states in protecting our natural resources."
