(Corvallis, Ore.—4/22/2009) Oregon State University is being recognized for its purchase of green power. OSU, a member of the Pacific-10 football conference, purchased 66,680,400 kilowatt-hours of green power, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.
The College & University Green Power Challenge Championship, a part of EPA’s Green Power Partnership, tracks green power purchasing by colleges and universities across collegiate athletic conferences. By purchasing green power, OSU reduces the environmental impact associated with conventional electricity use.
