EPA Awards Bronze Medal to Two Wilmington Residents

PHILADELPHIA -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded bronze medals to two employees for distinguished service.
Shawn Garvin, the state liaison officer to the state of Delaware, was recognized for his community outreach contributions involving the diamond State Salvage Site, Wilmington, Del. Garvin has worked for the EPA for two years.
Michael E. Welsh, an on-scene coordinator with the Hazardous Site Clean-up Division, was honored for his national efforts to prevent accident oil spills. Welsh has worked for the EPA for four years.
"Mike and Shawn deserve applause for their hard work. Thanks to them, the mid-Atlantic region is a cleaner, safer place to live," said W. Michael McCabe, EPA’s mid-Atlantic regional administrator.
