WASHINGTON – Today, at 1 p.m. EDT, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy will hold a media conference call to announce the 2014 Light-Duty Automotive Technology, Carbon Dioxide Emissions and Fuel Economy Trends Report. The report is the authoritative reference for carbon dioxide emissions, fuel economy and powertrain trends for new personal vehicles in the United States, providing a “progress report” on auto manufacturers’ efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase fuel economy. The report also compares automakers’ fuel economy performance in model year 2013.

Under President Obama’s leadership, the EPA and the Department of Transportation issued joint greenhouse gas and fuel economy standards for cars and light trucks for model years 2012-2025 that will effectively double fuel economy while saving families an estimated to be $8,000 over the lifetime of a 2025 car or truck.
