EPA'S ENDOCRINE DISRUPTORS ADVISORY COMMITTEE WILL MEET IN BALTIMORE
The third meeting of EPA's Endocrine Disruptors Screening and Testing Advisory Committee (EDSTAC) will be held at the Cross Keys Inn, 5100 Fall Rd., Baltimore, Md., April 29-30 (hotel phone: 410-532-6900; guest fax: 410-532-2403). The meeting is open to the public and begins at 9 a.m. on April 29. A public comment period will be held 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. The two-day meeting is scheduled to adjourn at 12:30 p.m. on April 30. The EDSTAC was established in November 1996, under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, to advise the Agency on development of a strategy to screen and test chemicals, including pesticides, for their potential to disrupt endocrine functions in humans, fish and other wildlife. The l996 Food Quality Protection Act and the l996 Amendments to the Safe Drinking Water Act require EPA to establish a screening and testing program for endocrine disrupting chemicals. Representation on the committee include government, industry, academia, public health and public interest groups.
