FEDERAL AND STATE OFFICIALS TO SPONSOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL SYMPOSIUM IN ATLANTA

Federal and state officials will sponsor an environmental symposium, "Greening the Southeast" in Atlanta, Georgia on June 9-10, 1999. The symposium, "Buy Green, Build Green, Drive Green, Save Green," will begin 10:30 a.m. on June 9th and 8:00 a.m. on June 10th at the Sam Nunn Atlanta Federal Center, 61 Forsyth Street, SW in downtown Atlanta.
An exhibit hall, sponsored by numerous environmental groups, will be held in the lobby of the federal center and on the second floor of the Tower Building (exhibit hours are 10:30a.m.-3:00p.m. on June 9th and 8:00a.m.-2:30p.m on June 10th). Workshop topics will include recycling, purchasing environmentally preferable products from GSA; energy efficiency in the home and a talk on environmental stewardship. All workshop attendees will receive certificates of training.
This event is an opportunity for citizens to learn the importance of working together to find solutions to the environmental and quality of life problems facing each of us everyday. Well informed citizens will become part of the solution by making sensible changes in their habits and lifestyles. This two day program will include speakers, workshops, exhibits and more. Symposium sponsors include the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the General Services Administration; the Department of Energy; and the Georgia Recycling Coalition.
