EPA Administrator Whitmanon Thursday will be in Iowa at Iowa State University where she is serving as the Mary Louise Smith Chair in Women and Politics for Fall 2002 at the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics. As chair, Whitman will give a public presentation and will also address the University’s Womenin Philanthropy group. The Carrie Chapman Catt Canter for Women and Politics was founded in 1992 at Iowa State to interest, educate and engage citizens in the political process. Carrie Chapman Catt was a leader of the women’s suffrage movement and a distinguished Iowa State alumna. The Mary Louise Smith Chair honors Smith who was a respected political leader in Iowa.
