WASHGTON -- As a part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) continued commitment to produce high quality and transparent scientific assessments, EPA will hold the first Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) bimonthly public meeting on Dec. 12 and 13, 2013.

The meeting will focus on the draft IRIS assessment of ethylene oxide (EtO), the draft IRIS assessment for benzo(a)pyrene, as well as the draft charges to the associated peer review panels. It will also provide an opportunity for public input and discussion on preliminary materials, including draft literature searches and associated search strategies, evidence tables, and exposure-response arrays, for three chemicals prior to the development of the IRIS assessments: ethyl tert-butyl ether (ETBE), tert-butyl alcohol (tert-butanol), and hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine (RDX).

This meeting is part of enhancements to the IRIS Program that EPA announced earlier this year. These improvements will increase productivity and scientific quality in IRIS assessments and help EPA meet the goal of producing IRIS assessments in a timely and transparent manner. EPA encourages interested parties to attend this meeting.
