MEDIA ADVISORY: EPA and Duluth Seaway Port Authority to sponsor clean-diesel workshop
WHAT: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 and the Duluth Seaway Port Authority will sponsor a one-day workshop to educate and engage port officials and their tenants regarding diesel emission reduction strategies for port terminal operations. The workshop will focus on understanding technology and business needs. Topics include efficiency improvements and cost savings in the trucking, rail and maritime sectors; diesel retrofit control technologies and clean fuels; and financing opportunities, innovative market mechanisms and legislative updates.
WHO: Officials of EPA's Region 5 Air and Radiation Division; Adolph N. Ojard, director of the Duluth Seaway Port Authority; Cathy Berg Moeger, director of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's Technology, Education and Assistance Division; and other officials of the sponsoring organizations. Also participating are officials of other state and federal agencies, officials of transportation associations and technology vendors.
