Dave Ryan 202-564-7827 / [email protected]
EPA will present the 2002 Energy Star Awards tomorrow to businesses and organizations that have taken decisive action to protect the environment through energy efficiency. Thirty-six manufacturers, retailers, homebuilders, utilities, and other organizations are being recognized for providing and promoting energy efficient consumer products, buildings, and homes.
A special Energy Star Products Showcase will be part of the Awards ceremony to highlight key products that have earned the ENERGY STAR. The products include ENERGY STAR labeled light bulbs and lighting products, home electronics, office equipment, skylight and window displays, ceiling fans and appliances.
In 2001, Americans, with the help of EPA’s Energy Star program, saved $5 billion dollars on their energy bills while simultaneously reducing air pollution equivalent to taking 10 million cars off the road. Working in partnership with industry, Energy Star provided solutions to ensure cost savings without sacrificing product features, quality or personal comfort.
Reporters are invited to attend the ceremony.
