EPA Awards $210,000 to the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas

(Dallas, Texas – December 26, 2007) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $210,000 to the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas through its General Assistance Program to manage specific environmental programs and establish a core program for environmental protection. The tribe will use the funds to provide a tribal environmental office, purchase solid waste educational tools, address solid waste management and emergency response issues, better protect and preserve the environment, improve drinking water quality assessment, follow up on past solid waste management issues, and develop a geographic information system program.
