WOMEN AND THE ENVIRONMENT CONFERENCE

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Carol M. Browner will be the keynote speaker at the final official preparatory conference leading to next year's United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women, on Tuesday, Nov. 15 in Oakland, Calif. at 12 noon.
The meeting, titled "Women: Thinking Globally, Acting Locally," is cosponsored by EPA, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the U.S. Department of State. It is the tenth U.S. meeting to be held in preparation for the 1995 United Nations conference, which will take place in Beijing, China.
Environmental problems and solutions that confront women around the world will be a special focus of the Oakland preparatory meeting. Browner will emphasize that the health and well-being of women is a foundation for healthy families, strong communities, and a clean environment.
