PHILADELPHIA - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is partnering with several environmental groups to sponsor the ninth annual Wetlands and Watersheds Workshop Oct. 23-26 in Atlantic City, N.J. “Wetlands and watershed protection and restoration are now more crucial than ever,” said Donald S. Welsh, regional administrator for EPA’s mid-Atlantic region. “This year’s workshop will be an important venue for all who strive to protect our vital aquatic resources.”
This year’s workshop will emphasize managing aquatic systems through the watershed approach. The conference gives the scientific community, non-government organizations and other interest groups an opportunity to hear knowledgeable speakers and interact with others who have similar responsibilities and duties.
Workshop sessions will address tools for analyzing wetlands, watershed and wetland restoration, remote sensing of natural systems, and watershed scaled processes, among others. Participants and presenters will include representatives of academia, landowners, government employees, nonprofit organizations, consulting firms, and citizen organizations.
The workshop begins on Monday, Oct. 23 and continues through Wednesday, Oct. 25 at the Holiday Inn on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Registration information and a copy of the agenda is available online at
