EPA To Hold Waste Tire Forum in Mobile, Alabama

(ATLANTA – April 19, 2006) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will host a regional forum sharing innovative methods of reducing waste tires at the Waste Tire Forum to be held in Mobile, Ala. in May 2006. The forum will feature expert presentations by state officials, contractors and consultants who deal with waste tires from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, North and South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.
The state panel and program overview provides insight on tire funds, legal considerations and property issues, cost recovery, and regional markets for waste tires. Other agenda topics include developing markets for waste tires; statewide inventory and mapping; and case studies on site security including fire prevention and planning, emergency responses and cleanup, and site restoration and redevelopment.
Who: Waste tire generators, state and local governments which regulate waste tires, auto recyclers, and collectors who move waste tires are encouraged to attend.
