EPA Offers Press/Public Tours of Ocean Research Ship

(#01042) New York, New York -- In celebration of the 31st annual Earth Day, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is giving tours of its 165-foot Ocean Survey Vessel, Peter W. Anderson . The OSV Anderson is EPA's only ocean-going ship and she operates year-round from Maine to the Caribbean, researching the health of our oceans and coastal waters and responding to environmental emergencies . The converted Navy patrol gunboat is loaded with modern oceanographic equipment and has three labs used to study the ocean and coastal environment.
EPA is offering MEDIA ONLY TOURS of the OSV Andserson on , Saturday, April 21 and Sunday (Earth Day), April 22 from 10:30 - 11:00 am . The Ship will be located on the North Side of Pier 17 at South Street Seaport in Manhattan (near the fish market). The OSV Anderson will be OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 from 11:00am to 5:00pm. |
