EPA schedules Scrap Tire Management Forum in Rapid City

(Denver, Colo., April 21, 2006) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 8 will host a Scrap Tire Management Forum on May 18 at the Radisson Hotel, 445 Mt. Rushmore Road, Rapid City, SD. The forum will focus on innovative methods of reducing waste tires and feature expert presentations by state officials, contractors and consultants from Colorado, North Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and South Dakota.

The state panel and program overview will provide insight on tire funds, cost recovery, fire prevention and planning, and regional markets for waste tires. Other agenda topics include developing markets for waste tires; statewide inventory and mapping; case studies on legal considerations, property issues; and multi-governmental cooperative plans designed for rural local governments.

State and local governments that regulate waste tires, waste tire generators, auto recyclers and collectors who move waste tires are encouraged to attend.
