EPA Awards $262,000 to New Mexico to Administer Water Quality Program

(Dallas, Texas – September 27, 2010) The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $262,000 to the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) to administer the state’s water quality program. The program will prevent, reduce, and eliminate water pollution through biological and habitat data management and analysis, continuous water quality monitoring, and sediment and siltation data collection and analysis. The funds will also be used to train staff on water quality monitoring and assessment and to participate in a national wetlands survey.
