U.S. EPA CHIEF AND U.S. DEPT. OF AGRICULTURE OFFICIAL TO HOST TOWN HALL MEETING IN CHICAGO, ILL. TO DISCUSS PRESIDENT’S CLEAN WATER ACTION PLAN
MEDIA ADVISORY

U.S. EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner and U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Richard Rominger will host a town hall meeting to discuss the President’s Clean Water Action Plan with federal, state and local officials, citizen groups and the agricultural and environmental communities on Wednesday, May 13, at 10:30 a.m. Administrator Browner will discuss the impact of the President’s plan on communities across the nation with water pollution problems.
Last February, 25 years after enactment of the Clean Water Act, the President announced the Clean Water Action Plan – a comprehensive blueprint to finish the job of restoring and protecting the nation’s waterways. The Plan includes more than 100 new actions to clean up our rivers, lakes and coastal areas, including a strategy to curb runoff from large, industrial animal feeding operations.

This town hall meeting is the last in a series of meetings hosted by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies in cities across the nation – including San Francisco, Denver, Portland, Atlanta, Boston, and Dallas – to ensure the President’s Clean Water Action Plan meets the needs of states, communities and citizens.
