FEDERAL AGENCIES ANNOUNCE NEW STUDIES
OF FEDERAL REMEDIATION PROJECTS
On June 14, member agencies of the Federal Remediation Technologies Roundtable announced the addition of 78 case studies to their inventory of cost and performance information. The studies were compiled by the Army, Navy, Air Force, Department
of Energy and EPA as part of an on-going commitment to document and share their experiences in cleaning up contaminated waste sites. With the addition of this new information, 218 case studies are now available covering a wide variety of technologies
for the remediation of soil and ground water. The new additions include: processes for phytoremediation and bioremediation; treatment of Dense Non Aqueous Phase Liquids (DNAPLs); a variety of in situ processes including electrokinetics and permeable reactive walls; and technologies for the separation and stabilization of radioactive contaminated soil and debris. The case studies will aid the selection and use of more cost-effective remedies by documenting results from full-scale as well as demonstration-scale applications. The studies are available on the Federal Remediation Technologies Roundtable web site at: http://www.frtr.gov. Abstracts of the new studies (Abstracts of Remediation Case Studies: Volume IV) and a CD of all 218 studies are available from the National Service Center for Environmental Publications at 1-800-490-9198.
