Competition Opens for President's 2000 Environmental Youth Awards

Applications are now being accepted for the President's Environmental Youth Awards (PEYA) competition for 2000, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6 announced today. One entrant in Region 6 will win a trip to Washington, D.C. for a student and an adult sponsor in the spring of 2001.
"EPA has sponsored the national competition for students in grades K through 12 since 1971 to promote environmental awareness and positive community involvement. Students in Region 6 have created outstanding projects in the past and we look forward to this year's entries," Deputy Regional Administrator Jerry Clifford said.
Three runners-up will receive awards and special recognition during the Region 6 "Earth Day 2001" recognition in Dallas.
