FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Kansas City, Kan., April 18, 2006) – EPA has added the W. Hwy. 6 & Hwy. 281 site, Hastings, Neb., to the National Priorities List of hazardous waste sites. EPA has determined the site warrants further response actions.
The site is being added to the National Priorities List because hazardous substances have been released into the environment and have impacted two municipal wells, and some private and local business wells.
Sites on the list become eligible for extensive, long-term cleanup actions and related funding under the Superfund Program. EPA will publish the rule in the Federal Register April 19, 2006.
