(Washington, D.C. – Sept. 10, 2004) Jon Scholl has been appointed Agricultural Advisor to the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Scholl joins EPA after 25 years with the Illinois Farm Bureau.
“I’ll count on Jon to provide me with counsel on issues important to both the agricultural community and the Agency,” said EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt.
Prior to his appointment, Scholl was Executive Assistant to the President of the Illinois Farm Bureau. Beginning in 1979, his tenure at the Farm Bureau has included stints as director of public policy and director of national legislation where he worked with legislators on the state, regional and national levels.
“I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Administrator on issues that are important to preserving the environment and to agricultural interests,'' said Scholl.
Scholl earned a B.S. in agricultural science from the University of Illinois. He currently serves as the chairman of the Illinois FFA Foundation Board of Trustees and is a member of the University of Illinois Agricultural Economics Department Advisory Board.
