WHAT: Bird=s eye view and site briefing from a special RTD Light Rail train.
Remarks by those involved in the Shattuck cleanup. Recognition of the work and effort involving the community; elected officials; federal, state and local agencies; and contractors to begin the demolition of the monolith and the shipping of the waste.
EPA, state and local officials will be available for questions.
Elected officials and Shattuck community members will be available for questions.
WHEN : Saturday, December 7, 12:05 PM
WHERE: A special RTD Light Rail train will depart the Evans Street station (Evans and Delaware Streets east of Santa Fe Drive) promptly at 12:05 PM. The train will stop on the flyover overlooking the site for a 10 minute briefing and view. The train will then continue northbound to the RTD I-25/Broadway station where passengers can ride the regular 12:20 PM southbound train back to the Evans Street station for speakers= remarks. The event at Evans Street station will begin at 12:30 PM. There will be no charge to ride the RTD Light Rail from Evans to I-25/Broadway and back to Evans for attendees.
Following the event will be a reception from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Overland Park Golf Course Clubhouse, 1801 South Huron, Denver.
WHO: Senator Wayne Allard, Representative Diana DeGette, Denver Mayor Wellington Webb, Denver Councilwoman Kathleen MacKenzie, community and Overland neighborhood representatives (including the Overland Neighborhood Environmental Watch and Clean-It!).
