EPA to Award Harambee House $300,000 for Continuing Toxics Reduction in Two Savannah Neighborhoods

(ATLANTA – Mar. 2, 2009) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will announce Harambee House, Inc.’s, receipt of a Level 2 Community Action for a Renewed Environment (CARE) grant for its work in the Hudson Hill and Woodville neighborhoods of Savannah. CARE grants support communities in creating and using collaborative partnerships to reduce exposure to pollution, and Harambee House in one of just four organizations nationally to have received funding for both Level 1 and Level 2 projects.

The EPA CARE program is a competitive grant program that offers an innovative way for communities to take action to reduce toxic pollution. Through CARE, communities create local collaborative partnerships that implement local solutions to reduce releases of toxic pollutants and minimize exposure to toxic pollutants.
