Vishay Intertechnology in Columbus, Neb., Joins National Partnership for Environmental Priorities Program

(Kansas City, Kan., Jan. 3, 2007) – EPA Region 7 Administrator John B. Askew welcomes the Region’s sixth National Partnership for Environmental Priorities Program member, Vishay Intertechnology’s Vishay Dale facility in Columbus, Nebraska.
Vishay’s pledge to eliminate more than 400 pounds of lead in its manufacturing processes will help meet EPA’s Priority Chemical reduction commitment.
“Our national goal is to partner with industry to reduce the use or release of four million pounds of priority chemicals by 2011, and Vishay Intertechnology is onboard to help meet this goal,” said Askew.
Vishay Intertechnology, an electronic components manufacturer, will substitute lead-free solder for a portion of its solder that is used to manufacture electronic resistors. The facility will eliminate more than 400 pounds of lead by December 2007.
Vishay Intertechnology is one of 100 organizations that have joined the National Partnership for Environmental Priorities Program (NPEP). The program encourages public and private organizations to form voluntary partnerships with EPA that reduce the use or release of any of 31 priority chemicals.
