WHY: To share information on environmental issues related to the site. There will be a presentation by NASA on current and historic rocket engine testing. There will also be an update on the status of a feasibility study/community health study. The public is invited to attend.
The Santa Susana Field Laboratory Workgroup is comprised of community representatives as well as the various agencies with responsibility for cleanup at the Boeing Rocketdyne site in Simi Valley.
The Santa Susana Field Laboratory, established in 1946, covers nearly 2700 acres in eastern Ventura County. The site has been used for rocket engine tests, nuclear energy research and nuclear reactor development. Nuclear work ceased in 1988.
