EPA completes hazardous substances removal at the Fuller Road Drum Site in Gainesville, Georgia

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced that it has completed a Superfund hazardous substances removal at the Fuller Road Drum site in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia. A removal is a short-term cleanup intended to stabilize or clean up a site that poses an imminent and substantial threat to human health or the environment. The removal was completed under the authority and direction of the Agency's Emergency Response and Removal Branch. The removal included: hazard categorization testing; sampling for waste profile analysis; over-packing of damaged or corroded drums; transportation to the Hall County Department of Transportation yard until disposal was arranged; and final disposal at an approved off-site facility. The Fuller Road Drum site is on a rural dirt road located approximately 3/10 mile into Hall County off U.S. Highway 129 in Gainesville. The substances included more than 300 gallons of what was determined to be flammable liquids. The site was referred to EPA by the Gainesville-Hall County Enforcement Division.
