(San Francisco)-- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(U.S. EPA) is inviting industry, environmental and community
groups to an information session on U.S. EPA's Environmental
Leadership Program and Project XL, programs that focus on ways
businesses can prevent pollution and reduce pollution emmissions
in cleaner, cheaper, and more innovative ways.
The session will be held June 22 between 8 a.m. and 4:30
p.m. at the Parc Fifty Five Hotel, 55 Cyril Magnin St., San
Francisco.
XL projects are real world tests of innovative strategies
that are designed to achieve cleaner and cheaper results than
conventional ways to achieve regulatory compliance. The projects
give regulated sources the flexibility to develop alternative
strategies that will replace or modify specific regulatory
requirements on the condition that they produce greater
environmental benefits.
The Environmental Leadership Program, initiated this year,
will recognize those industrial facilities willing to develop
innovative approaches in preventing pollution that will result in
moving beyond simple compliance with environmental laws.
For more information about the information session or the
Environmental Leadership Program, call Linda Powell at (415) 744-
1629. For information about Project XL, call Jon Kessler at (202)
260-4034.
