EPA ISSUES INTERIM UTILITY REPORT

As required by Section 112(n)(1)(A) of the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990, EPA is required to conduct a technical assessment of toxic air pollutant emissions from power plants. EPA has completed an interim version of the study and has submitted it to Congress. The study is entitled "Study of Hazardous Air Pollutant Emissions from Electric Utility Steam Generating Units, Interim Final Report,"October 1996 (EPA-453/R-96-013abc). It does not make any regulatory determinations regarding electric utilities. A final report to Congress will be issued at a later date. The executive summary of the interim report can be accessed by computer through EPA's electronic bulletin board system, the Technology Transfer Network (TTN) at 919-541-5742 (backup number for access problems is 919-541-5384) under "Recently Signed Rules" on the TTN's Clean Air Act Amendments Bulletin Board.
