U.S. EPA DEPUTY CHIEF HANSEN TO TOUR L.A. SHARES RE-USE WAREHOUSE

EVENT: News media are invited to join U.S. EPA Deputy Administrator Fred Hansen and L.A. SHARES Executive Director Bert Ball for a tour of L.A. SHARES' warehouse, a re-use depot that, since its founding in 1993, has funnelled over 6,000 tons of surplus materials worth over $10 million from over 700 L.A. area businesses to over 2,500 schools and charitible organizations that reuse them. For L.A. county and Long Beach schools and non-profits, L.A. Shares provides one-stop warehouse shopping for computers, lumber, furniture, paint, fabrics, art supplies, and much, much more -- all absolutely free! L.A. Shares is the largest single donor or goods and materials to the L.A. Unified School district and many other educational and charitible institutions. L.A. Shares is also involved in redistributing over $40,000,000 worth of materials from the recently closed Long Beach Naval Shipyard. U.S. EPA has been L.A. Shares' largest funder since its inception in 1993, providing a total of $110,000 in grants.

Go block to L.A. Shares, on west side of street next to the Los Feliz Independent Fuel gas station.
