EPA REVOKES SEVERAL HUNDRED RESIDUE LIMITS FOR PREVIOUSLY CANCELED PESTICIDE USES
EPA is revoking approximately 700 tolerances (pesticide residue limits) that had previously been established for pesticides used on a variety of food products. The Agency is taking this action to follow up on earlier decisions that effectively canceled pesticide uses associated with these tolerances. Uses for the tolerances that EPA is revoking have been canceled for more than a year. EPA first proposed to formally revoke these and other tolerances earlier this year, and at that time provided pesticide manufacturers, growers, and other potentially-affected groups with an opportunity to notify the Agency of their interest in maintaining them. Based on comments from these groups, the Agency will provide interested parties an opportunity to supply the Agency
with information needed to support approximately 100 tolerances. All other tolerances that had been proposed for revocation are being revoked. The review of these tolerances is part of the tolerance reassessment process that EPA is conducting under the Food Quality Protection Act.
