EPA TO HOLD PUBLIC AVAILABILITY SESSION REGARDING THE RAM LEATHER CARE SITE IN CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a public availability session to discuss the start of a Remedial Investigation at the Ram Leather Care Superfund site in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on Tuesday, April 13, 1999.
The availability session will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Solid Rock Youth Center at Dulin’s Grove Church, 11200 Arlington Church Road in Charlotte. EPA officials will be available to provide information, answer questions, and address concerns regarding the site.
The 10-acre site is located at 15100 Albemarle Road in a residential area in eastern Mecklenburg County near the Cabarrus County line. The site was used as a dry cleaning and leather goods cleaning facility. EPA will begin sampling soil and groundwater on the site and some private wells during the week of April 19, 1999. The major contaminants of concern are: tetrachloroethylene (PCE), trichloroethylene (TCE), sichloroethene (DCE), and vinyl chloride.
