EPA TO HONOR SEVEN ARIZONA INDIVIDUALS, ORGANIZATIONS AT VALLEY FORWARD EARTHFEST 2000 CELEBRATION

SAN FRANCISCO -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will pay tribute to seven environmental leaders from Arizona during a presentation at Valley Forward's EarthFest 2000 in Phoenix April 11. Earth Day awards will bepresented By EPA's regional administrator Felicia Marcus who was invited to address 500 high school students attending an EarthFest 2000 High School Outreach Conference. Students are invited to ask Marcus questions following the presentation.
The EPA Region 9 Earth Day Award acknowledges those who have demonstrated commitment and significant contribution to the environment in California, Arizona, Nevada and tribal Lands. The Arizona Earth Day winners are among approximately 40 groups and individuals selected from more than 160 nominees received this year from businesses, media, local and state government officials, tribes, environmental organizations and community.
