Essex Junction, Vt. Wastewater Treatment Plant Water Quality Superintendent Recognized for Outstanding Service

(Boston, Mass. – Feb. 19, 2014) – James Jutras, Water Quality Superintendent for the Essex Junction, Vermont Wastewater Treatment Plant, was honored by EPA with a "2013 Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Excellence Award" recently. Mr. Jutras was selected for the recognition because of the outstanding job he has performed over the years in operating and maintaining the Essex Junction facility.

The EPA Regional Wastewater Awards Program recognizes personnel in the wastewater field who have provided invaluable public service managing and operating wastewater treatment facilities throughout New England. The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation was instrumental in Mr. Jutras' nomination.

“The professionals operating these wastewater treatment plants, as well as the municipalities and the state environmental agencies that support them, are essential to keeping our environment healthy by protecting water quality. EPA is proud to acknowledge Mr. Jutras' outstanding contributions to help protect public health and water quality for so many years and to give him the credit he deserves,” said Curt Spalding, regional administrator of EPA's New England Office.
