EPA Hearings on California Air Resources Board’s Request for Waiver

(Washington, D.C. - May 21, 2007) EPA will hold hearings in Arlington, Va., on May 22 and Sacramento, Calif., on May 30, to provide additional opportunity for the public to participate in a comment period regarding California Air Resources Board’s (ARB’s) request for a waiver of preemption for its Greenhouse Gas Emissions regulation for cars and light-duty trucks. ARB’s regulation is set to begin with the 2009 model year. The public hearings will be held at the following locations:

May 22 at EPA Potomac Yard Conference Center
2777 Crystal Drive – Room S-1204, Arlington, Va. 22202
May 30 at Byron Sher Auditorium
Cal/EPA Headquarters, 1001 I Street, Sacramento, Calif. 95814
Time:
Both hearings will start at 9 a.m. and continue into the afternoon to accommodate individuals who wish to comment.
Written comments will be accepted until June 15, 2007. Individuals may also submit comments electronically, by mail, by facsimile or by hand delivery/courier. EPA will consider written comments submitted during the comment period with the same weight as oral comments presented during the public hearings.
