EPA Awards Over $800,000 to the Rio Puerco Alliance

(Dallas, Texas – March 28, 2008) The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded $839,727 to the Rio Puerco Alliance of Santa Fe. The Alliance proposes to implement new methods of road construction and maintenance, and install erosion control structures to decrease sedimentation and erosion. The Alliance will also use the funds to implement vegetation and grazing management practices. Other activities under this grant will include efforts to reduce illegal dumping, develop and conduct a targeted monitoring program, and conduct education and outreach activities for the local community.
