PHILADELPHIA - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is providing $155,900 in grant funds to Delaware to eliminate groundwater pollution resulting from septic systems. These hardship grants will help small, rural, unsewered and economically distressed communities meet their wastewater needs and protect drinking water supplied by wells.
Delaware is the only state in the country using the hardship grants program to repair or replace failing privately-owned septic tanks.
Reporters inquiring about specific hardship grants to specific individuals should call Alan Farling at the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control at (302) 739-5081.
