Federal Recovery Act Dollars Help Train Disadvantaged Richmond Residents for Jobs in Renewable, Clean Energy

SAN FRANCISCO – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a press conference on Thursday April 8th to discuss the details of a $500,000 EPA Brownfields job training grant to Richmond, California. The City of Richmond’s job training program consists of training in a variety of environmental, green technology and construction skills. During the next three years, hundreds of graduates will receive certifications that will help them secure employment in the fast growing sectors of renewable and clean energy.

WHEN: Thursday, April 8th, 11:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. - Media check in
Press conference begins at 11:15 a.m. followed by:

    · Informal Q & A session with key officials
    · Great photo opportunity of active work on the training site where job trainees will be: “weatherizing” an existing window; installing insulation using innovative materials such as recycled jeans; installing attic ventilation; performing blower door tests; doing solar demonstrations and much more.
