PUBLIC COMMENTS ASKED ON LIST OF PESTS
OF SIGNIFICANT PUBLIC HEALTH IMPORTANCE
EPA has made available for public comment a draft Pesticide Registration Notice that identifies pests of significant public health importance. EPA has developed this public health pest list in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA), as required under the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996 (FQPA). The Federal Register notice published on March 29, 2000, notifies the public of the availability of the draft Pesticide Registration Notice and provides for a 60-day public comment period. EPA will use the comments received on this draft to develop the final List of Pests of Significant Public Health Importance Pesticide Registration Notice. In coordination with the U.S. Public Health Service, EPA will develop programs to improve and facilitate the safe and necessary use of chemical, biological and other methods to combat and control such pests of public health importance. The Federal Register notice is available on the General Printing Office web site at: http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/aces/aces140.html
