PHILADELPHIA – The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded a $435,500 grant to the Bedford Township Municipal Authority, Bedford County, Pa. for improvements to the township’s water system.

The project will include installation of approximately 15,400 lineal feet of 10-inch diameter water transmission mains and appurtenances, three pressure reducing valves, 10 fire hydrants, one new well pump, and 20 new service connections.
The project will improve service or provide new serve to customers in the Bedford Heights, Briar Valley Road, and the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchange sections of the township. The grant will pay for 55 percent of the construction cost totaling $791,818.
