CHICAGO (May 11, 2005) — U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has reached agreement with True Value Manufacturing Co. for hazardous waste violations at its 201 Jandus Road paint manufacturing facility in Cary, Ill. The company has agreed to pay a $74,323 penalty and comply with all hazardous waste storage rules.
EPA cited True Value for failing to obtain a hazardous waste storage permit; retain an adequate hazardous waste contingency plan; properly store unmarked used oil containers; and conduct and keep records of weekly safety inspections.
Under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, EPA regulates hazardous waste from its production to final disposal.
