EPA ADMINISTRATOR BROWNER TO ATTEND GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY TO BEGIN EVERGLADE RESTORATION
EPA Administrator Carol M. Browner will join federal, state and local officials at the Everglades National Park in Dade County, Fla., in a groundbreaking ceremony to begin the restoration of the Florida Everglades on Jan. 10 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will mark the initiation of the nation's largest environmental restoration project, Everglades Restoration. Administrator Browner will give brief remarks about the importance of the project in protecting public health and the environment, and the Clinton Administration's commitment to improving water quality and restoring the Florida Everglades. Note: To attend the event, all attendees must take a shuttle bus from Homestead General Aviation Airport, 28700 S.W. 217 Ave., Homestead, Fla. Attendees should arrive at the airport by 10:30 a.m.
To get to Homestead General Aviation Airport from Miami, take Florida Turnpike south and exit at Caribbean Blvd. Proceed west to U.S. 1. On U.S. 1, go south to S.W. 296 Street. Go west on S.W. 296 Street to S.W. 217 Ave. Take north to Homestead General Aviation and park at facility.
