CHICAGO (Jan. 31, 2007) - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 has reached an agreement with Crane Composites Inc., 23525 W. Eames St., Channahon, Ill., on alleged violations of federal hazardous waste regulations. The company will pay a $50,000 penalty.

Crane, a manufacturer of fiber reinforced plastics, was cited for violating the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act requirements for managing hazardous waste.

The company, a large quantity generator of hazardous waste (more than 2,205 pounds a month), failed to: properly label hazardous waste containers, keep containers closed, control air emissions, institute a contingency plan, and train personnel and keep records.

EPA regulates hazardous waste from production to final disposal. Crane Composites is now in compliance with EPA regulations.
