U.S. EPA Administrator to Visit Salt Lake City, Seattle and Portland to Highlight Agency’s Efforts to Reduce Carbon Pollution and Address Climate Change

WASHINGTON - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy will travel to Salt Lake City, Seattle and Portland this week to meet with elected officials, stakeholders and business leaders to discuss the agency’s efforts to reduce carbon pollution and highlight local environmental efforts.
Administrator McCarthy’s trip is a part of EPA’s continuing efforts to engage industry, local leaders and other stakeholders as the agency works to implement President Obama’s Climate Action Plan. The visit comes ahead of the EPA’s upcoming proposal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing power plants. During her trip, she will meet with local leadership, view urban energy efficiency projects and meet with members of the business community on their sustainable efforts.
Administrator McCarthy will be in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, May 21; Seattle on Thursday, May 22; and Portland on Friday, May 23.
