EPA ADDS SEVEN SITES AND PROPOSES 14 SITES TO NPL
EPA is proposing to add 14 sites and adding seven sites to the National Priorities List (NPL). The primary purpose of the NPL is to guide EPA in determining which sites warrant further investigation. Currently there are a total of 62 proposed and 1,227 final sites on the NPL (including sites in this Update). The 14 proposed sites include: Capitol City Plume, Montgomery, Ala.; Scovill Industrial Landfill, Waterbury, Conn.; Southern Solvents Inc., Tampa, Fla.; Talen’s Landing Bulk Plant, Grand Cheniere, La.; Davis Timber Co., Hattiesburg, Mo.; Lockwood Solvent Ground Water Plume, Billings, Mont.; Mohawk Tannery, Nashua, N.H.; Molycorp Inc., Questa, N.M.; Hudson Technologies Inc., Hillburn, N.Y.; Imperial Refining Company, Ardmore, Okla.; Lower Darby Creek Area, Delaware/Philadelphia Counties, Pa.; Gilt Edge Mine, Lead, S.D.; Palmer Barge Line, Port Arthur, Texas; and Hamilton/Labree Roads Ground Water Contamination, Chehalis, Wash. The sites being added to the NPL include: Ouachita Nevada Wood Treater, Reader, Ark.; Leviathan Mine, Alpine County, Calif.; Callaway & Son Drum Service, Lake Alfred, Fla.; Landia Chemical Co., Lakeland, Fla.; Old Roosevelt Field Contaminated Ground Water Area, Garden City, N.Y.; Intermountain Waste Oil Refinery, Bountiful, Utah; and Midnite Mine, Wellpinit, Wash. Public comments will be accepted for 60 days for the 14 proposed sites. The Federal Register notice is expected to be published today.
