(Dallas, Texas – February 2, 2007) Water quality throughout the state of New Mexico will benefit from a $1.75 million grant from the Environmental Protection Agency. The grant was awarded to the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) to implement projects from the state’s Nonpoint Source Management Program. Nonpoint sources of pollution are caused by runoff from rain or snow. NMED's goal is to restore impaired waters and prevent pollution and contamination in threatened waters. The funding is part of a multi-year grant.
