Students Recognized for Contributing To Healthier Environment

(Washington, D.C. - April 19, 2007) EPA will recognize 50 young people from around the country tomorrow at the 2006 President's Environmental Youth Awards (PEYA) for their contributions in promoting environmental awareness and community involvement in such issues as recycling, energy efficiency, climate change and water conservation. Winners were selected from among applicants to EPA's 10 regional offices. Regional EPA panels judge projects on environmental needs, accomplishment of goals, long-term environmental benefits and positive impact on local communities.
